Barconnie-Hammond’s Ville Community Forest Management Agreement

A reference copy of the Community Forest Management Agreement (CFMA) signed between the People of Barconnie-Hammond’s Ville and the Forestry Development Authority (FDA) of Liberia. It was signed on 22 February 2017, and has a duration of 15 years. It is located in District #3A, Grand Bassa County. It is designated a conservation community forest. The community forest is in four sections:

  • Donnie Forest, 127 ha
  • Kokpeh, 289 ha
  • Paye, 72 ha
  • Varyoncon, 123 ha
  • Total 611 ha

This community forest is largely comprised of mangrove forests. Its establishment has been supported by USAID between 2012 and 2019, and in 2020-21 by the Sustainable Development Institute (SDI), which also supported conservation and livelihoods developments.  Nonetheless, some media reports suggest the community is struggling to make ends meet.
