In this short briefing Client Earth explains the key elements of the EU Timber Regulation which entered into force on 3 March 201 and makes it illegal to place timber on the EU market, if logged in violation of the laws in the country of origin.The EUTR is one component of the EU’s Forest, Law, Environment, Governance
and Trade Action Plan and it is the responsibility of each of the 27 Member States to enforce it.
